Last Roll of The Dice.

Hi,

One consistent feature of almost every attempt I have made to make money on-line is that they have been one off shots at glory. Such has been the state of my available finances that if I didn’t have any success straight out of the box then it was back to square one and time to save up cash for another attempt.

Sound familiar?

Link up this cash shortage and a fear of failure which grows larger with every failed attempt and it is no surprise that I have spent so many years in the internet marketing wilderness.

A mindset like that is always going to lead to frustration and disillusionment.

Unless you are extremely lucky and hit the jackpot straight away, pretty unlikely, then you have to take a long term view and not launch any type of project unless you have the reserves of time or resources for the long term.

Last chance saloon or last roll of the dice, whatever you like to call it, it is a mindset that will kill you off before you even get started.

Now that I have finally realised that this is my problem I have begun to investigate ways to take a longer term view to my on-line success and develop a strategy which I can start small and scale up over time.

Overnight success is not likely to happen and accepting that albeit rather late in the day will remove a lot of the fear of failure from my efforts and leave me with a much clearer mind to focus on the task in front of me.

I am about to venture into the, currently to me unknown, world of Solo Ads.

I will let you know how I get on.

Until then, take care,

Gordon

Another Year Nearly Gone, Achieved Your Goals?

Hello Everyone,

2015 is almost over and thoughts turn to what we have achieved.

The year began, as so many have, with good intentions of great deeds to make up for the inaction of the previous year.

How has that worked for you in 2015?

Personally I have been very busy but have I actually achieved anything of significance? To be honest no!

As discussed in an earlier post it took me 6 months to create and set up my latest product and sales funnel only for the launch to be compromised by my hospital stay. Who knows if the results would have been better if that had not happened, it is immaterial now anyway.

There is still enough of 2015 left to begin laying the foundations for a successful 2016 and that is exactly what I will be doing for the next 22 days.

What will you be doing to ensure your 2016 is better than your 2015?

All the best.

Gordon

Why not just throw in the towel?

Hi There,

Another few months have passed since my last post and many times this thought has crossed my mind. I have lost count of the number of different schemes, projects and ideas I have tried over he last 10 years all with no success.

My latest project took up six months of my life in creation, partly down to my lack of confidence and search for perfection it must be said, and, because I was hospitalised days before the launch without access to my laptop was not ready when the product launched while I was in there. As they say you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression.

Another disastrous failure to notch up on my list.

So why not just throw in the towel? Surely after this amount of time I am wasting my time trying to make it online.

Because as long as that fire still burns in my belly and the belief that I will make it a success in the end I will keep on keeping on.

Today I start my first campaign with Solo Ads.

Let’s see how this one goes.

Will update you all soon.

Take care,

Gordon

16 Week Challenge.

Hi Folks,

Here in the UK we have a General Election coming up in May. That is around 16 weeks away and a challenge has been set to achieve something meaningful in that time. Some cycnics may say it will help take your mind off the boring, pointless debates but I couldn’t possibly comment 🙂

I have decided to see how much I can achieve in Affiliate Marketing in those 16 weeks and will chart my progress on this site during that time.

I have started by joining a new training platform, studying new methods of goal setting and how to stay focused to make sure I make the right progress.

Pop back in a few days to see how things are going in these early days.

All the best,

Gordon

Good to be Back!

Hi There,

Good to be back after a longer than anticipated break due to home improvements and various Military issues. With 3 family members in the Forces these are things you have to deal with. With deployments in Afghanistan, Falkland Islands and Kosovo it was always going to be a busy and worrying time. Thankfully things are settling down a bit now and with the various household projects nearing completion it is time to focus on my Internet adventure again.

Nothing else to report currently but there soon will be.

All the best,

Gordon

Busy Week? Yes. Productive??

Hi there,

Had a very busy week collecting info towards creating my first product. Surrounded now by e-books, paper books, PLR documents and other related articles. Now I need to start reading through it all to form the framework of my product. That will give me the starting point and deliver some focus to my next few days and weeks.

This is all new to me so no doubt more hurdles and challenges lie ahead but, more importantly, more opportunities to progress and learn more about Internet Marketing in general and Product Creation in particular.

It is funny how I feel that I am not being very productive if I am not actually typing words into a document or producing something tangible.

The proof of how productive this week has been will depend on how well I turn that info into a product that is going to be of use to someone else and produce me that magical first $1 sale on this adventure.

It is my intention as I move on with this adventure is to identify useful things that I learn and share them with you via this blog.

On a more personal note my sympathies and good wishes go out to all of those affected by the terrible events at Fort Hood this week. As the father of a soldier based there it was a very anxious few hours before contact was re-established and I found out that he was safe and well.

Until next time, take care,

Gordon

Time for a Confession

Hello,

Confession time.

I have allowed myself to get sidetracked and lost a little focus. As I have said I have been struggling for nearly a month now with getting my first project completed and successfully set up. Nothing has been going right.

As a result I have been attracted by too many bright shiny objects landing in my inbox 🙁

Although I take full responsibility for losing focus it is a shame that so many marketers sell you a course which claims to show you how to be successful by starting out properly, taking your time and doing it right, then bombard you with other offers which either claim to make it easier or quicker to achieve that same success.

I realise that their email lists are probably huge but you would have thought that they could create a list of newbies who were left alone for a while to get on with the training they already have to put in place.

If, like me, you have been struggling day by day to prepare the correct foundations for a long term business the last thing you want is distraction on a weekly basis which takes you away from what you are trying to achieve.

I have allowed myself to get distracted by this and must learn to be more wary in the future.

Confession over 🙂

On the bright side I have finished my free gift project and successfully set up the opt in etc to allow people to claim it.

Onwards and upwards now with my first actual money earning project.

Take care,

Gordon

Down But Most Definitely Not Out

Hello again,

Been a tough couple of weeks. I was hoping to have brought you more positive news today but things are still proving tough.

I have reached that stage where I am well out of my comfort zone. I don’t have a real problem with that but, add it to the fact that I am facing challenges that I do not know enough about how to complete and life gets hard.

Still grappling with getting my free gift funnel sorted and downloaded to my site. When you are working partly in the dark so to speak you want it to go smoothly because when it doesn’t you have no idea what to do.

Safe to say I have been stuck at that point for the best part of 3 weeks now.

However, I am now starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel. Things are becoming clearer slowly and I can see where I am going at last.

I am really pleased that I have stuck with it and not either jumped ahead or worse, given up again. I will complete this task properly before I move onto creating my first product.

I am giving myself a few days off to enjoy the Cheltenham Festival, a horse racing festival here in the UK, a mile from my house actually, famous for the Cheltenham Gold Cup race.

After that it will be all systems go to get back with the training and move this business forward.

I feel that I have weathered the first major storm in my adventure and I have come through it stronger and more focused.

Until next time, take care,

Gordon

WOW! What a Frustrating Week.

WOW! This has been a really frustrating week. The sort of week that in the past would have made me, and probably many others, throw in the towel in utter despair.

Seems like creating my free gift report was actually the easy bit!

I knew it may well be a tough week due to pre-arranged work and family commitments limiting my time but had not prepared myself for everything to go wrong.

In the past I have created and uploaded many website using a variety of FTP providers and, apart from a few teething problems, it has all gone relatively well. Not this time however.

I created my squeeze page, my Thank You and download pages, saved them in my folder and attempted to upload them to my new domain using Filezilla for the first time.

I have a few websites hosted by Dreamhost all of which took little effort and time to set up, all went smoothly or maybe I have conveniently forgotten any issues I may have had at the time.

This time however nothing has worked.

Let me make it clear right here that I am 100% sure that none of the systems or products I am using are to blame. I am sure it is just user error.

I have trawled my way through support forums, youtube videos and help desk tickets in an attempt to sort this out.

One question. Why does it look so simple on the video yet doesn’t actually happen when I try it out?

I am waiting for a reply to my latest help desk ticket and, depending on what they say, will either get it done or scrap what I have done so far and start again with the uploading process.

This is not going to derail my progress. This time I am going to stick with it every step, one at a time, until I get to my goal of making my first $100 online.

One aspect of my week that I am pleased with is this; in the past I would have either given up altogether, moved on to another part of the process or maybe started a completely new project. This time I have resisted that temptation which I am taking as a more mature approach to the whole process.

I will not be beaten, I will succeed!!

Back next week with more positive news.

Until then, take care.

Gordon

At Last!!

Hi,

I am very happy to report that I have managed to complete my free gift creation project 🙂

I have also worked out using a combination of my training, a lot of trial and error, a useful you tube video and searching support forums to set up all of the parts of my process to let my customers get access to it.

I am going to give myself the weekend off from IM as a reward.

I will be back early next week with details of how I managed to put all of the process pieces together in the hope that it will save someone a lot of time and frustration in the future.

Going to relax now in prep for my next race, a 10k road race on Sunday.

Back soon, take care,

Gordon
